Rosalind R. Tyson, the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s enforcement and examination efforts in Southern California, was named acting regional director of the agency’s Los Angeles office Tuesday.

She will succeed Randall R. Lee, who is scheduled to leave the agency this month. The agency’s Los Angeles region encompasses Southern California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii.

Tyson, who was acting regional director once before, in 2001, joined the SEC as an enforcement attorney in 1982. Most recently, she has been overseeing the office’s examination program, which conducts inspections of brokers, investment advisors and mutual funds.
