Gunfights leave 19 insurgents dead
From Times Wire Reports
Islamic militants detonated bombs close to military convoys and attacked government positions in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal region, sparking gunfights that left 19 insurgents dead, government officials said.
The fighting was the latest in the volatile North Waziristan region since militants revoked a cease-fire agreement with the government last week.
The tensions have raised concerns about the threat posed by Islamic militants to the military-led government of President Pervez Musharraf, an army general.
