Ambushes cut off food, U.N. says
From Times Wire Reports
Attacks on aid convoys in Sudan’s Darfur region are hampering the world’s largest humanitarian operation, and about 170,000 people are out of reach of food aid because of the violence, the United Nations’ World Food Program said.
Nine food convoys have been ambushed by gunmen in the last two weeks, the WFP said in a statement.
Darfur rebel groups have been battling the Sudanese government since 2003.
