What’s So Glamorous About This Paparazzi Power Couple?

Share

Shame on you for glamorizing the revolting world of the paparazzi in your cover story on Francois and Brandy Navarre (“The Shooting Stars,” by Robin Abcarian, May 13). These scum believe it’s their right to photograph celebrities anywhere and anytime. How would they feel if someone waited outside their house or climbed their wall to take pictures of their young children? All’s fair, right?

Why Abcarian wasted time, energy and tree pulp on these barracudas is beyond me. Raised in L.A., I am neither enamored with nor have the slightest interest if a “star” hiccups on his or her way to Morton’s or the Ivy. I care more about what people do rather than who they are.

As for those sorry souls who are a little low in the self-esteem department or those bored folks with too much time on their hands, I guess having the Navarres fulfill their addiction to gossip is the perfect marriage. My advice to all the purveyors and consumers of the useless tripe? Get a life!

The paparazzi need to open their eyes and turn their cameras on this new power couple. The Navarres may bring us the freak show that defines Hollywood, but I am still trying to decide if I have ever seen a more classic American look than the cover shot of Brandy.

Throw in a master’s degree from USC, two children and her successful partner and husband, and I am hard-pressed to name another couple who could be more visually and professionally interesting. X17 defines the American dream, and the Navarres should be congratulated even if we find some of their tactics less than desirable. Somehow I think they would be able to handle the camera being turned on them.

Doesn’t matter what kind of spin you put on the Navarres. Nothing can overcome the fact that what they do for a living is degrading, demeaning and trashy.
