A spotlight on ‘Crystal’ and ‘Lucy’

Share

IN a sea of gowns from sponsor Max Mara, Steven Spielberg might have been the sole suit wearer at Women in Film’s 2007 Crystal + Lucy Awards on June 14. That is, until fellow presenter 1. Diane Keaton pumped up the crowd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in her trademark two-piece ensemble. “Grey’s Anatomy” creator 2. Shonda Rhimes, with cast members Sara Ramirez, left, and Kate Walsh, picked up a Lucy Award for innovation in television. 3. Kristin Chenoweth, right, with “RV” costar Cheryl Hines, kept things entertaining until Crystal Award honoree 4. Renee Zellweger teared up and said, “Now my fake eyelashes are going to fall off!” Ah, that explains all the gawking!

It’s daytime’s night to shine at Kodak

Leave it to Rosie O’Donnell to dominate the 34th annual Daytime Emmy Awards without even setting foot in the Kodak Theatre, or winning a statuette for that matter. 7. A double-clutched Ellen DeGeneres beat out “The View,” but she still gave her loud-mouthed competitor a shout-out at the June 15 ceremony. 8. Elisabeth Hasselbeck, left, with Barbara Walters and Joy Behar, was all smiles, perhaps because her sparring partner is gone for good. Elmo tickled presenter 9. Tyra Banks’ funny bone, before he tied Oscar the Grouch for best performer in a children’s series. If only Big Bird had been in attendance to settle the score. Although with all the room underneath Banks’ Roberto Cavalli dress, who’s to say he wasn’t?

Staying high and dry at YSL’s pool party

Nobody dared to show up in a teeny-weeny bikini for the Center Dance Arts’ YSL pool party at the Beverly Hills Hotel on June 14. Instead, fashionistas such as Kristen Bell, Kerry Washington and Kristin Davis made waves in the fashion house’s decidedly non-water-resistant silk and tweed party dresses. The Aquartistes performed water ballet for the cuddling crowd, softening up even the toughest dudes including Joel Madden, who met up with 10. Nicole Richie inside and 11. Sylvester Stallone, whose wife Jennifer Flavin, was pumped up enough for both of them. The jury’s still out on whether 12. Ashton Kutcher, with Demi Moore, actually saw the show. Maybe next time he should trim his bangs?

A big weekend for family and friends

One might expect to see scantily clad bunnies bopping around the Hollywood Bowl at the 29th Annual Playboy Jazz Festival, but on Father’s Day, the two-day event took on a family-friendly vibe when MC 5. Bill Cosby reunited with his TV son, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, to introduce Warner’s band, Miles Long. But surely no place is more focused on the fam than Disneyland, where 6. Courteney Cox Arquette, left, and Lisa Kudrow took in the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage opening. Underwater, the former “Friends” really got animated!
