1 dead as guard shoots at workers

A Yemeni guard opened fire on a group of foreign oil workers shortly after they landed at a company airstrip, killing one and wounding five, including an American, officials said.
The shooting took place at Los Angeles-based Occidental Petroleum Corp.’s facility in Shabwa province about 200 miles southeast of the capital, Sana. The U.S. Embassy in Sana said the American, who was not identified, was critically injured.
