A husband-and-wife team seeking election to a pair of open City Council seats will face two other candidates in the April 10 municipal general election.

Carolyn and Phil Berlin finished third and fourth, respectively, in a seven-person field in this week’s primary election. The top vote-getters were Gary Bric and Anja Reinke. The married couple’s campaign sparked controversy when critics contended that the Berlins would align themselves with a current council member and vote as a bloc. But the pair countered that their election would put an end to what they described as an existing 4-1 voting bloc.

Bric received 4,277 votes to Reinke’s 3,900, Carolyn Berlin’s 3,258 and Phil Berlin’s 2,946.
