Japan-N. Korea talks stop short

Japan and North Korea cut short talks toward establishing diplomatic relations, Japanese envoys said today.
The second day of talks in Hanoi lasted less than an hour. Wednesday’s afternoon session had been canceled because of discord over the sensitive issue of the North’s abductions of Japanese in the 1970s and ‘80s.
