Conductor exits Moscow hospital
Famed Russian cellist and renowned conductor Mstislav Rostropovich has been discharged from a Moscow hospital, a Russian news agency reported Wednesday.
He was released Tuesday and now “feels well,” his press secretary, Natalia Dolezhal, was quoted by Interfax as saying.
Rostropovich, 79, was hospitalized last month for unspecified reasons -- first in Paris and then in Moscow. Two Russian newspapers later reported that Rostropovich was being treated at Russia’s leading cancer clinic, but aides declined to comment on the reports.
