A day after the show’s stars were announced in a reality TV show, the producers of a Broadway revival of “Grease” said Monday that they already have sold $8 million worth of tickets, with preview performances still four months away.
The production will star Max Crumm as Danny and Laura Osnes as Sandy. They were chosen Sunday night on the final episode of the NBC series “Grease: You’re the One That I Want,” which had begun in January with nearly 60 people vying to star in what will be the third Broadway staging of the high school musical. Tickets went on sale when the series premiered.
Crumm, 21, is from Phoenix but has lived in L.A. for the last three years. Osnes, 20, hails from Eagan, Minn., a suburb of Minneapolis. Both have extensive musical experience, including productions of “Grease.”
Preview performances of Broadway’s new “Grease” begin at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in New York on July 24.
