A tragic metaphor

Re “Army distortions on Tillman cited,” March 27
Army Ranger Pat Tillman’s tragic death stands as a metaphor for this country’s misadventure in the Mideast: Heroic, invincible warrior strides into the desert on a noble mission of revenge, only to be brought down by his comrades. Likewise, the U.S., still enmeshed in this ill-conceived venture of vengeance, has squandered its treasury, its morals and its once-proud leadership of the world -- brought to its knees by our comrades in Washington. And still our nation’s lifeblood flows into those silent sands as we debate how many more lives to waste.
