FCC tells retailers to label analog sets

The Federal Communications Commission has ordered retailers to label analog televisions so consumers know that they will be unable to get free over-the-air TV in early 2009 when broadcasters switch to digital signals.

Owners of analog televisions will still be able to see pictures if they get a converter box or subscribe to satellite or digital cable.

Some U.S. lawmakers have raised concerns that the industry is not doing enough to prepare consumers for the transition.
