Admitted ally of Al Qaeda is freed
From Times Wire Reports
A British-born man who pleaded guilty in 2004 to plotting with Al Qaeda to bomb the Israeli Embassy in Australia was released on parole.
Jack Roche, a Muslim convert, had been sentenced to nine years in prison after he agreed to be interviewed about his involvement with Al Qaeda and its Southeast Asian offshoot, Jemaah Islamiah.
The plot against the embassy in Canberra, the capital, was never carried out.
At his home in South Perth, Roche told reporters that he was no longer in contact with Al Qaeda operatives.
