Howard Larman gets his wish

Share

For well over three decades, Howard Larman had a final request for the guests on the Sunday radio show, “FolkScene,” that he co-hosted with his wife Roz: “How about another song?”

On Tuesday night at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, in a touching memorial service for Larman, who died last month at age 73, a cavalcade of musical stars obliged one last time.

Jackson Browne, Richard Thompson, Dave Alvin, Loudon Wainwright III, Wendy Waldman and Jennifer Warnes were among the performers at the three-hour service, which also featured tributes from a slew of friends and co-workers on the iconic folk music program, which has been broadcast on KPFK-FM (90.7) for most of the time since the Larmans created it in 1970.

Larman’s son, Allen, pledged that he and his mother will keep the show going.
