When words pull our heartstrings

Share

I am so deeply touched and moved by Chris Erskine’s Man of the House column [“Not Even a Whimper,” Oct. 25] -- heartfelt, sensitive, intimate, profound, with writing that stands head and shoulders above what we’re generally presented in a daily newspaper.

You made me remember my wife and I having to put to sleep our good pal Jake, our dog and member of our family for 13 years. We wept as deeply as if our child had died. Thank you so much for honoring Lucky the way you did. With you as his companion, he was obviously a lucky dog indeed.
