A familiar refrain

MICHAEL JACKSON says he will “be more focused on L.A. and California than syndicated hosts from the East Coast, such as [Rush] Limbaugh” [“Jackson Seeks to Reclaim His Place,” by Steve Carney, Oct. 29]. That was his game plan when Limbaugh challenged him in the ‘90s and it didn’t work on KABC then, nor did it fly during his comeback attempts at KRLA and KLAC.
The search for the antidote to Limbaugh goes on, but KGIL-AM will find, as others have, that the magic bullet is not resurrecting a limousine liberal from L.A. talk radio’s days of yore.

YET another article supporting the end of KMZT and the re-emergence of KGIL as Saul Levine’s answer to KABC, KFI, KNX and KFWB. But no one ever asks how he can compete with any of those stations -- no matter who is in his lineup -- when his 1260 signal only reaches about 1/3 of the area covered by his rivals.
