Cold medicine cups mislabeled

Wyeth voluntarily recalled several Robitussin and Dimetapp cough and cold medicines whose measuring cups aren’t marked for the proper dose for children ages 2 to 5.

Products with a new cup marked for the recommended half-teaspoon dose are expected to be available at stores this month, the Madison, N.J.-based drug maker said. The recall covers Children’s Dimetapp Cold & Chest Congestion and the following Robitussin products: Cough DM, Cough & Cold CF, Cough & Congestion, Chest Congestion, Head & Chest Congestion PE, and Cough Sugar Free DM.

About 40,000 home patio sets, imported by Target and manufactured in China, were recalled because the set’s chairs can collapse when weight is applied to the front ends of the armrests, posing a falling hazard. Target has received 35 reports of chairs collapsing, resulting in 18 injuries including bruising to the back, hips, shoulders and arms, and finger lacerations. The patio set includes a table, an umbrella and four chairs. The chairs and umbrella have black aluminum frames covered with a beige fabric. The sets were sold at Target stores nationwide and on the company’s website from November 2006 through July. About 380,000 Galaxy Warriors figurines and 1,500 Ribbit board games by SimplyFun were recalled for lead-contaminated surface paints. The figurines were manufactured in China and distributed by Henry Gordy International Inc. The board games were made in China and imported and distributed by SimplyFun.

Toys R Us recalled about 16,000 Chinese-made Elite Operations toys because the military-style toys or their paints contain excessive levels of lead. The recall included four Elite Operations toy sets: the Command Patrol Center, the Barracuda Helicopter, the Super Rigs set and a three-pack of 8-inch figures. The toys were sold at Toys R Us stores and on toysrus.com from July to October. They can be returned to any Toys R Us store for a refund or store credit.
