Swiss bliss

Jai Michaels-Hauptmann of Los Angeles was on a monthlong driving trip last winter through Italy, Germany, Lichtenstein and Switzerland when this scene mesmerized her. Her husband, 15-year-old son and she were traveling through Switzerland, on the way from Germany. “I said to my husband, ‘That looks mystical over there.’ I felt like the trees were moving; we were moving.” She caught the bird in mid-flight on film using a Canon EOS Elan.
