Boeing Co., the world’s second-biggest commercial airplane maker, said orders this year have reached 1,047, breaking its record for a third straight year.

Boeing added 71 orders for 737s and 777s from unidentified customers and one 737 order from AMR Corp.’s American Airlines, according to the Chicago-based company’s website.

Both Boeing and top commercial plane maker Airbus are benefiting from a jump in sales to Asia and Persian Gulf states.
