German response to plastic bag issue

Share

I’m from Germany, and we’ve long banned plastic bags from our shopping experience. (“A flood of plastic bags, no solutions,” Consumer Confidential, Nov. 21.) In our supermarkets you just won’t get any bags, so you had better bring your own containers to bring your groceries home.

We need drastic measures. People are lazy and in denial, and our pollution is a severe problem that affects us now, not just future generations. We are creatures of habit, but we are able to retrain ourselves.
