Funeral set Saturday for first black commander of LAPD
A funeral service for Homer Floyd Broome Jr., the first African American to rise to the rank of commander in the Los Angeles Police Department, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holman United Methodist Church, 3320 W. Adams Blvd., Los Angeles. Broome died Monday at age 76.
