DECLAN IS A LOVELY NAME

Re “Overrated: Naming Your Kid Declan” [Nov. 22]:

Twenty-one months ago, we named our first child Declan because it was a good old Irish name to honor my husband’s family across the pond and because no other kid had that name. Do we know of Elvis Costello and his distaste for the name? Yes. Was the crooner in any way a factor for naming our son Declan? No. I haven’t met another American-born Declan yet, so I wonder where all the hipster spawn are hiding. Get over yourself and pick on someone your own size.

(Ahem, and oh yes, I realize that our son’s problem will not be his first name, but his last.)
