Ex-lawman triggers escapees’ capture
From Times Wire Reports
Two escaped prisoners, on the run for almost a week, were arrested after a high-speed chase that began because of a 911 call from a retired police officer who had been duct-taped at knifepoint in his summer home.
The convicted killers had broken in, police said, and the retired lawman freed himself after they fled.
One of the convicts was in critical condition in a Salt Lake City hospital after being shot when officers cornered the pair on Interstate 80 in western Wyoming, authorities said.
