The Defense Department last week identified the following U.S. military personnel killed in Iraq or who died at a military hospital of their injuries:

Micheal D. Brown, 20, of Williamsburg, Kan.; specialist, Army. Brown died of a noncombat-related illness Tuesday at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany a day after being transported from Tikrit, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division at Ft. Riley, Kan.

Frank L. Cady III, 20, of Sacramento; specialist, Army. Cady was killed Oct. 10 when the vehicle in which he was riding overturned in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 4th Special Troops Battalion, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Ft. Riley, Kan.

Jarred S. Fontenot, 35, of Port Barre, La.; staff sergeant, Army. Fontenot was killed Thursday when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Erik T. Garoutte, 22, of Santee, Calif.; corporal, Marine Corps. Garoutte died Friday in Baghdad. The Department of Defense did not give any information on the cause of his death, stating only that the incident is under investigation. He was assigned to the 1st Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team Company, Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force in Norfolk, Va.

Wayne M. Geiger, 23, of Lone Pine, Calif.; specialist, Army. Geiger was killed Thursday when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment in Vilseck, Germany.

Kenneth J. Iwasinski, 22, of West Springfield, Mass.; private first class, Army. Iwasinski was killed Oct. 14 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Jason B. Koutroubas, 21, of Dunnellon, Fla.; specialist, Army. Koutroubas died of noncombat- related injuries Oct. 14 in Tall Afar, northwest of Baghdad. He was assigned to the Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Bliss, Texas.

Vincent A. Madero, 22, of Port Hueneme; specialist, Army. Madero was killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee in Balad, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Thomas M. Martin, 27, of Ward, Ark.; first lieutenant, Army. Martin was killed Oct. 14 when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Busayifi. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division at Ft. Richardson, Alaska.

Justin S. Monschke, 28, of Krum, Texas; sergeant first class, Army. Monschke was killed Oct. 14 when an improvised explosive device detonated near him in Arab Jabour, southeast of Baghdad. He was

assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Ft. Bragg, N.C.
