The spirit of old Hollywood
ACTRESS Irene Dunne, who starred opposite the likes of Cary Grant and Spencer Tracy, lived for more than 40 years in a French colonial-style house on the site of this estate in Holmby Hills.
After Dunne died at age 88 in 1990, her Paul Williams-designed home was razed, and this manor, designed by Kevin Clark, took its place. It was completed in 1997.
Georgian-style with French accents, the house has inlaid marble floors, custom moldings and gold-leaf details. The entrance hall has a dome skylight. The grand salon has hand-hewn mahogany floors, and the main dining room can seat 22.
The huge master-bedroom suite has city-to-ocean views.
About this house: The 1-acre flat lot has a motor court, a five-car garage, a staff wing; a tennis court with viewing pavilion; a pool and spa; and manicured grounds.
Asking price: $26.5 million
Size: There are seven bedrooms and 12 bathrooms in 14,250 square feet.
Additional features: The two-story home includes an elevator, plus a gym, a library, a media room, a wine-tasting room, a wine cellar, six hand-carved marble and stone fireplaces, and a lanai. The pool has solar and gas heating.
