‘Guitar Hero’ and those Backstreet Boys rock on

You will talk about: “Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.” “Bee Movie” has been getting all the press, but the week’s biggest release is the third installment of the popular video game “Guitar Hero.” We’re predicting the video game will out-gross Seinfeld’s animated cinematic debut by a margin of at least 4 to 1. At least! (Today)

You won’t talk about: “Unbreakable.” The Backstreet Boys come out with a new album this week. It’s their first album in two years. That’s right. Only two years. We were surprised too. Then we realized we had them mixed up with ‘N Sync. No way Justin is going back to the boy-band scene. (Tuesday)

You might talk about: “Twin Peaks.” Ten DVDs, 29 episodes, the original and European pilots, documentaries about David Lynch, the creation of the series, the music on the series, the “SNL” sketch making fun of the series. No “Twin Peaks” stone was left unturned for “Twin Peaks: The Definitive Gold Box Edition.” See “A Second Look,” Page 14. (Tuesday)

You could talk about: “Darfur Now.” We are inclined to go to movies to escape from the world’s troubles, not to delve into them. But maybe you are not like us and want to know more about real-life tragedy and you want to get that information in a dark movie theater. If that is the case, then check out this documentary, which follows six people, including actor Don Cheadle, who have struggled to respond to the genocide in Darfur. (Friday)

And you will talk about: Halloween! The Smart List writer’s mom doesn’t like Halloween, but we sure do. We especially enjoy the awesome costumes that refer to moments in pop culture. This year we will not be satisfied until we see one black Spider-Man, one heavy man dressed as Britney Spears at her disastrous VMA performance, a kid in a Transformer suit and one Amy Winehouse.
