8th annual L.A. Triathlon
The triathlon will begin at Venice Beach at 6:45 a.m. Sunday with the ocean swim segment and continue by bike to downtown Los Angeles, where it will conclude with a run, finishing at Staples Center. Street closures will start as early as 3:30 a.m., and nearly all streets should reopen by 1:00 p.m.
Street closures
The triathlon course is divided into four traffic zones. Here is a list of times when streets are expected to reopen in each zone and intersections where drivers can cross the bicycle route.
Zone 1: From the ocean at Venice Boulevard to Fairfax Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard
Streets are expected to reopen by 10:45 a.m.
You can cross Venice at:
* Abbot Kinney Boulevard
* Lincoln Boulevard
* Sepulveda Boulevard
* Overland Avenue
* National Boulevard
* La Cienega Boulevard
* Cadillac Avenue
You can cross Fairfax at:
* Pico Boulevard
Zone 2: From Fairfax and Wilshire to Hollywood Boulevard and the 101 Freeway.
Streets are expected to reopen by 11:10 a.m.
You can cross Wilshire at:
* La Brea Avenue
You can cross 6th Street at:
* Rossmore Avenue
You can cross Highland Avenue at:
* Beverly Boulevard
* Melrose Avenue
* Santa Monica Boulevard
* Sunset Boulevard
You can cross Hollywood at:
* Cahuenga Boulevard
* Vine Street
* Gower Street
Zone 3: From Hollywood Boulevard and the 101 Freeway to 1st Street and Grand Avenue
Streets are expected to reopen by 11:35 a.m.
You can cross Hollywood at:
* Western Avenue
* Normandie Avenue
* Hillhurst Avenue
You can cross Sunset at:
* Alvarado Street
You can cross Beaudry Avenue at:
* Temple Street
You can cross 1st Street at:
* Hope Street
Zone 4: From 1st and Grand to Figueroa Street and Pico Boulevard
Streets are expected to reopen by 1:00 p.m.
The 101 Freeway off-ramps at Hollywood Boulevard and the 110 Freeway off-ramps at 6th Street will close by 6 a.m. and will reopen at 11:35 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
