‘Dream’ comes true

Share

“My Dream,” a stunning stage spectacular featuring dancers, singers, musicians, martial artists, acrobats, actors and lavish sets, costumes and lighting effects, will be presented by the world-touring China Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe, on Sunday evening at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

The troupe -- referred to as a “Messenger of Beauty and Humanity” and this year designated as a UNESCO “Artist for Peace” -- consists of young performing artists with visual, hearing or physical disabilities, recruited from provinces in China.

Since its founding in 1987, the company has traveled to five continents to deliver its dazzling message of artistic expression, inclusion and harmony. In 2004 it was spotlighted in the closing ceremony of the 2004 Paralympics in Athens; in 2008, it will perform at the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in Beijing.
