Authorities say another secret tunnel has been discovered along the U.S.-Mexico border in San Diego.

Lauren Mack, a spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said Wednesday that the passage was incomplete. It ran 14 feet into the U.S. and was 2 feet wide.

Mexican authorities discovered the entry Tuesday near the Otay Mesa border crossing, which separates San Diego from Tijuana. They acted on a tip from U.S. intelligence sources. There was no opening on the U.S. side.

Mack says the unsophisticated tunnel was apparently designed for human smuggling but never used.

Authorities say more than 70 tunnels have been found along the U.S.-Mexico border since 2000, many around San Diego and Nogales, Ariz. Many are unfinished.
