In case you needed proof that Beethoven is timeless

Share

TAKE your time, Ludwig. What’s the rush?

Here’s a chance to hear, really hear, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony -- very, very slowly.

Norwegian sound artist Leif Inge has reworked a recording of the Ninth so that it lasts 24 hours. Because of digital technology, pitch and timbre are not affected. But your mind will be.

The Philharmonic Society of Orange County will present Inge’s “9 Beet Stretch” beginning at noon May 3 and ending about noon the next day at the Orange County Museum of Art.

Listeners will be free to come and go, but they’re being encouraged to bring blankets and pillows and spend the night.
