The Orange County scene is picking up steam, with several new high-profile bars and late-night dining options set to open. Tonight, fans of sushi (and tattoos) might find their own nirvana in the form of Costa Mesa’s Irezumi (shown in rendering above) at 901 S. Coast Drive. The MOR Project (the folks behind Holly’s West, among other bars and restaurants) debuts its latest concept. Irezumi, which translates to “tattoo” in Japanese, features 25-foot-high ceilings, multiple plasma screens showing vintage samurai films and a wall featuring traditional tattoo art. Expect an expansive sake menu with signature drinks as well at the tattoo-themed lounge and restaurant. . . . In June, look out for Heat Ultra Lounge across the street from Disneyland at 321 W. Katella Ave. The 11,000-square-foot club, inside Anaheim’s new Garden Walk project, is certainly not for kids, however. The decidedly adult nightclub will feature an expensive Funktion One sound system (like Vanguard in Hollywood) and aims to lure some of L.A.’s top DJ talent. “There’s nothing like this in the O.C.,” co-owner Mike Joher says. “We’re targeting everyone 21 and over, from convention center people to locals as well.” . . . You won’t see any conventioneers tonight at Eva Longoria Parker’s new venue, Beso. The new hotspot and Us Weekly are toasting Tinseltown’s “hottest celebrity designers” at the recently opened destination with a celeb-heavy bash featuring Heidi Klum (Kimora Lee Simmons is also on the guest list). Naturally, Steve Aoki DJs. . . . Yet another wine bar is now officially open. Vinoteque (4437 Sepulveda Blvd.) officially opened last week in Culver City after a week in soft-opening mode, offering more than 500 varieties of reds. . . . And Prince played a special $200-a-ticket show at Hollywood’s sexy Green Door on April 9 (the same day his Coachella date was announced), covering Herbie Hancock (“Chameleon”) and Joni Mitchell (“A Case of You”), as well as delivering his own classics.
