Water-wise yards require patience

Regarding “Drops Saved Are Drops Earned” [March 23], about water-wise landscapes: As pleased as I was to see the article, I was a bit surprised by the description. “The designs take time to establish and can look ragged during their first months.”

“Ragged”? New landscapes look sparse. That’s how they should look. If they don’t, that means they are over-planted.
