Obama was right
Re “Obama is pumped up over attack,” Aug. 6
There they go again! Republican talking heads are at it, trying their best to mock and minimize an opponent. This time it’s Barack Obama’s suggestion that proper tire inflation will lower demand for gas. The problem for the mockers is, it’s true -- underinflated tires add rolling resistance, forcing the engine to work harder and lowering a car’s mpg.
I use hyper-mileage techniques and overinflate my tires by 5 pounds each. From that alone I gain nearly 10% in mpg. What if we all did this? Conservation is the key, not more drilling.
