Poizner’s shameful action
On “Poizner drops refund effort” (Aug. 5):
California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner has agreed not to seek refunds for Allstate homeowner’s insurance policyholders if the company stops overcharging on future bills.
That’s like letting a bank robber keep all of his ill-gotten gains from a yearlong crime spree if he generously promises to stop stealing in the future.
Poizner’s shameful act of corporation coddling will cost Allstate customers hundreds or thousands of dollars each. He has betrayed the public he is supposed to serve, and he should be recalled.
