When the shoes flew
Re “Rude farewell for Bush in Baghdad,” Dec. 15
I’d like to ask the Iraqi reporter and his supporters how secure they would have felt throwing a shoe at Saddam Hussein while he was in power? It’s interesting how quickly they learn to use their recently obtained freedoms to rebel at the democracy that granted them, and see no irony in doing so.

George Bush is responsible for the deaths of countless thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens. Kudos to the guy who threw his shoes. Too bad he didn’t have better aim.

Re “Bush in Iraq defends war, and his legacy,” Dec. 15
So the myopic Bush defines the troop “surge” in Iraq as “one of the greatest successes in the history of the United States military.”
Yes sir, any military historian would surely rank it right up there with Normandy, Midway, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Incheon and Iraq I. “The Decider” must have problems with his rotator cuff from patting himself on the back for his failures.
