Hall to help retool KABC

David G. Hall, the programming executive who during the 1990s helped engineer the ascent of KFI-AM (640) as it overtook KABC-AM (790) as the Southland’s dominant talk-radio station, on Friday was named director of operations at his onetime rival.

Hall will “help us with our plan to shift TalkRadio KABC into more of a news/talk format,” said John H. Davison, president and general manager of KABC. He’ll replace Erik Braverman as of Jan. 5.

Hall spent 11 years as program director at KFI, beginning in 1991. For the last five years he has overseen L.A. news stations KNX-AM (1070) and KFWB-AM (980).
