Re “MOCA accepts Broad’s lifeline, appoints CEO,” Dec. 23, and “They’re living with cancer and little else,” Column, Dec. 21

Once again, the angel of Los Angeles’ arts comes to our rescue. Do we have the words to thank him for sharing his love of the arts with our community? He and his wife, Edythe, are the heroes of this season of giving. A simple thank you from a big fan.

Still, during these calamitous times, during Christmas, isn’t it even more compelling that he and other extremely wealthy Angelenos attack homelessness and financial distress in our community with heroic blows?

Fifteen million dollars for MOCA is fine. Another $15 million from Broad and each of L.A.’s billionaires could buy apartment buildings to house people like Steve Lopez’s new friends the Himmels, and buy food for the thousands the food banks cannot feed.
