Regulators slow to report hazards

U.S. consumer safety regulators typically take about seven months to inform the public of dangerous products in cases where manufacturers were fined for not promptly reporting a defect, watchdog group Public Citizen said.

Companies fined for not timely reporting hazards took an average of 2.7 years to notify the Consumer Product Safety Commission of the problems, according to the report issued by the nonprofit group.
