A horn player’s big finale

THANK you for the terrific story on Bob Watt [“It’s His Horn of Plenty,” Jan. 20] and his plans to carry on after his career with the L.A. Phil, and the photos by Ringo H.W. Chiu were wonderful. But what did that example, concerning Mr. Watt playing an outdoor concert in a Helsinki, Finland park, have to do with anything? That someone came up to him dribbling a basketball doesn’t seem out of line. What about the people who dared to approach him with picnic baskets or hula hoops or even kites?

Surreal experience indeed.
