* HIT: Nearly seven hours after his 7:26 a.m. tee time and after shooting a 72, Vijay Singh emptied a bucket of balls at his feet on the driving range and started beating them toward the net at the far end.
* MISS: Rory Sabbatini’s huge, shiny belt buckle that came dangerously close to blinding his gallery. It had no ill effects on Sabbatini, the 2006 winner at Riviera, who shot a four-under 67.
