Cinefamily at Silent Movie Theatre

Sick of the Oscars? If what you’re dreaming about this weekend is an escape from the hype, you could do worse than the Cinefamily offerings at the Silent Movie Theatre in Hollywood. Tonight, for the most eclectic experience imaginable, check out “Happy Together,” Wong Kar Wai’s gorgeous rumination on breaking up, and then stay for “Supervixens,” Russ Meyer’s extravaganza of vulgarity and political incorrectness. Or go Saturday for 1993’s “Suture,” part of Cinefamily’s “Black Impostor” series. It’s a brainy, hyper-theoretical story that’s hard to imagine getting made, let alone getting noticed, today. If, on the other hand, you can’t wait until those envelopes are opened, watch the telecast at the theater on Sunday.
