Clinic hands over patient records
A Planned Parenthood clinic in suburban Kansas City will turn over patient records to a grand jury investigating abortions there, a clinic attorney said.
A grand jury issued a subpoena to the Comprehensive Health clinic in Overland Park for the records of 16 patients.
The clinic has been battling Johnson County Dist. Atty. Phill Kline, an antiabortion crusader, over whether the subpoena should be enforced.
Kline alleges the clinic performed illegal late-term abortions.
An attorney for the clinic, Pedro Irigonegaray, said it would turn over the records but that they would be edited to remove any information that could identify a patient.
