The world came to Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena on Monday in the 119th Rose Parade with floats that depicted celebrations from around the globe and marching bands that journeyed from as far as Japan.

The weather was mild and spectators enjoyed a good view of the floats and participants, including Grand Marshal Emeril Lagasse, the celebrity chef, and Dodger announcer Vin Scully, who rode on a float celebrating the team’s 50th year in Los Angeles.

A float promoting the 2008 Beijing Olympics depicted an ancient temple and featured 124 performers.
