A new Mafia, Albright and spandex

What you’ll talk about: Finally, something to TiVo. Our TiVo to-do list is pretty depressing these days -- we’ve got a bunch of “Simpsons” reruns coming and not much else. But this week, ABC premieres “Cashmere Mafia,” a show about four power-woman friends who discuss everything from “the boardroom to the bedroom” (according to a press release). Our eyes are rolling out of our skulls, but at least it’s something new. (Tonight)

may think you want to talk about: “First Sunday.” Ice Cube stars in this comedy with a day of the week in the title, and Tracy Morgan (whom we adore in “30 Rock”) costars, so you are completely forgiven if, like us, you think this sounds like the best sequel to “Friday” yet. Unfortunately, “First Sunday” is not a sequel to the stoner classic but a new movie unto itself about two guys who try to rob a church. Boo. (Friday)

You should talk about: Madeleine Albright’s public memo. Our former secretary of state releases a book this week called “Memo to the President Elect: How We Can Restore America’s Reputation and Leadership.” Nobody’s saying Albright has all the answers (except perhaps her publishers), but our next president is going to need all the help that he/she can get. (Tuesday)

And now another generation can talk about: “American Gladiators.” This show makes us think of the weekend afternoon television binges of our youth, when nothing else was on and for some reason our dad had not yet dragged us on what he called “a nature walk.” We know some people are excited about the return of the iconic show, hosted this time around by Hulk Hogan and Laila Ali, but we’re not. (Tonight)
