USC honors 3 men behind ‘Old Men’

Oscar-winning screenwriters Joel and Ethan Coen and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Cormac McCarthy won the 20th annual USC Libraries Scripter Award for the noir western “No Country for Old Men.” The award is presented by the USC Libraries to the writers of the “most accomplished cinematic adaptation of a book, novella or short story.”

“Atonement,” “Into the Wild,” “There Will Be Blood” and “Zodiac” were the other finalists.

The award will be presented Feb. 2 at the Scripter gala at the university’s Edward L. Doheny Jr. Memorial Library.

Jason Alexander will serve as host.
