Eight passengers and two crew members were injured when an Air Canada jet bucked during a flight from Victoria to Toronto, forcing the pilots to make an emergency landing in Calgary.
Those hurt in what was described as sharp drops in altitude and violent rocking were taken to hospitals, but their injuries were not life-threatening.
“One side of the plane just went up a little bit sideways and then it just sort of went back down,” a passenger told CBC television.
Flight 190, an Airbus A319 with 83 passengers and five crew members, was over the Rocky Mountains when some passengers were thrown from their seats. Severe air turbulence was suspected.
