Violet Parkhurst, a Palos Verdes artist who owned a gallery at Ports O’ Call Village in San Pedro since the 1960s and whose paintings were part of the private collections of former Presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan and George H.W. Bush, died Sunday of heart failure at Little Company of Mary Hospital in San Pedro. She was 81.
