at New York 2, Tampa Bay 1 (10 innings): Bobby Abreu hit a game-winning double against reliever Grant Balfour in the 10th inning, giving the Yankees their fourth consecutive victory. Closer Mariano Rivera pitched two innings to get the win.

Chicago 7, at Kansas City 6: Carlos Quentin hit a pair of two-run homers and the White Sox fought back from a five-run deficit to score the go-ahead run on an eighth-inning balk. Quentin, who has 21 home runs, helped send the White Sox to their 11th win in their last 13 games.

Seattle 6, at Oakland 4: Jose Lopez hit a three-run double and Adrian Beltre drove in two runs as the Mariners ended a losing streak at three games. Donnie Murphy drove in three runs for the Athletics.

at Detroit 8, Cleveland 6: Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning and the Tigers, who trailed 6-0 in the sixth inning, handed the Indians their 10th consecutive loss.

at Toronto 9, Baltimore 8: Alex Rios and David Eckstein each drove in two runs, A.J. Burnett won for the third time in four starts and the Blue Jays used a seven-run fourth inning to beat the Orioles.

at Boston 18, Minnesota 5: The Red Sox set season highs for hits (23) and runs.

at Texas 5, Angels 4: The Rangers (48-44) moved four games over .500 for the first time since 2006.
