Design taking a back seat at GM

Share

In “My 2 cents” (July 8), a reader wrote that the demise of GM could be traced to several causes, all of which I agree with. I haven’t seen an exciting GM product since the early 1990s when the Camaro and TransAm were remodeled.

Since then, everything they have produced is an old model warmed over -- the GTO, the G8, grandpa’s Buicks, ugly Cadillacs.

The GM honchos ignored the wants of the public, being content with the status quo as long as they received their outrageous salaries. Ford has done nothing with the Mustang, and the ill-conceived T-Bird was a joke. Chrysler had an opportunity with the 300 but chose a box for a model, ignoring a design that would have sold.
