Records -- Sparks 13-8, Mercury 9-12.

Record vs. Mercury -- 2-1.

Update -- Sparks rookie point guard Shannon Bobbitt is shooting only 27% but continues to give the team a lift in other areas. In a 75-62 victory Monday against the visiting San Antonio Silver Stars, she had a season-high seven assists, absorbed several charges and was the primary defender on Becky Hammon, who missed 11 of 16 shots. The Sparks’ other rookie, Candace Parker, is averaging 28 points a game against Phoenix. The Mercury has the league’s top scorers, Diana Taurasi (23.6 ppg) and Cappie Pondexter (23.3), but they both played poorly when these teams met July 6, a 91-80 win by the Sparks at home. Taurasi went scoreless until the fourth quarter and finished with eight points on three-for-15 shooting. Pondexter equaled her season low of 14 points.
